prepararse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfQu\u00e9 encontrar\u00e1s en la secci\u00f3n Reading del TOEFL ITP?<\/h2>\n<p>En esta secci\u00f3n del <strong>TOEFL ITP<\/strong>, que es espec\u00edficamente la <strong>secci\u00f3n 3<\/strong> del examen, encontrar\u00e1s textos cortos sobre diferentes temas y \u00e1reas, tales como arte, ciencias, geograf\u00eda, deportes o naturaleza. Para cada fragmento, se te plantear\u00e1n una <strong>serie de preguntas<\/strong>. Recuerda que en<strong> esta secci\u00f3n no se eval\u00faa<\/strong> tu conocimiento sobre un tema, sino tu <strong>capacidad de comprensi\u00f3n<\/strong>. La <strong>puntuaci\u00f3n m\u00ednima es 31<\/strong> y la m\u00e1xima 67. En el <strong>nivel 2<\/strong>, esta secci\u00f3n contiene <strong>40 preguntas<\/strong>, tiene una <strong>duraci\u00f3n de 31 minutos<\/strong> y se califica seg\u00fan una <strong>escala de 20 a 50 puntos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Tipos de preguntas del Reading TOEFL ITP<\/h2>\n<p>En la s<strong>ecci\u00f3n de comprensi\u00f3n lectora<\/strong>, todas las preguntas son de opci\u00f3n m\u00faltiple. Por tanto, tendr\u00e1s que elegir la <strong>opci\u00f3n adecuada<\/strong> entre las <strong>cuatro posibilidades<\/strong> que se ofrecen (A, B, C o D). Recuerda que la respuesta no siempre es expl\u00edcita, por lo que estar\u00e1 redactada con palabras diferentes al texto.<\/p>\n<p>En el <strong>nivel 1<\/strong>, tras leer un pasaje, normalmente de entre 15 y 25 l\u00edneas, encontrar\u00e1s diez preguntas asociadas. Las <strong>preguntas<\/strong> pueden ser <strong>generales<\/strong> o <strong>espec\u00edficas<\/strong>. Aqu\u00ed tienes algunos ejemplos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is the main idea of the passage?<\/li>\n<li>What is the best title for this passage?<\/li>\n<li>All of the following are true EXCEPT\u2026<\/li>\n<li>In line 8, the author uses the expression X to indicate that\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Which of the following is NOT true?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ten en cuenta que no solo se evaluar\u00e1 tu comprensi\u00f3n sobre el texto, sino tambi\u00e9n sobre <strong>vocabulario<\/strong> o <strong>expresiones concretas<\/strong>. Esto quiere decir que podr\u00e1s encontrar preguntas en las que se te pedir\u00e1 elegir el sin\u00f3nimo adecuado de una palabra que aparece en el texto. Estas preguntas normalmente se formulan como \u201cThe word X is closest in meaning to\u2026\u201d y tendr\u00e1s que <strong>elegir la mejor opci\u00f3n<\/strong> entre las <strong>cuatro propuestas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>En el <strong>nivel 2 del TOEFL ITP<\/strong>, las preguntas est\u00e1n divididas en dos partes: <strong>Vocabulario y Comprensi\u00f3n lectora<\/strong>. En la primera parte, cada pregunta contendr\u00e1 una palabra o grupo de palabras subrayadas, y tendr\u00e1s que <strong>elegir la respuesta<\/strong> (A, B, C o D) que pueda reemplazar a la palabra subrayada manteniendo su significado. El formato de la<strong> segunda parte<\/strong> es <strong>igual<\/strong> al descrito anteriormente, aunque en este caso, al tratarse de un <strong>nivel m\u00e1s bajo<\/strong>, los textos son de <strong>menor extensi\u00f3n<\/strong> (aproximadamente 8-15 l\u00edneas).<\/p>\n<h2>Ejemplo del Reading TOEFL ITP<\/h2>\n<p>Te mostraremos ejemplo de texto del TOEFL ITP y algunas preguntas que te podr\u00edan hacer.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Texto<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The ability to distinguish between sounds of varying\u00a0pitch\u00a0makes people capable of producing and understanding speech and music. And the way we are able to process pitch has been thought to be unique to our big-brained species.<\/p>\n<p>But now, there\u2019s evidence that a tiny monkey\u2014the common marmoset from Brazil\u2014can distinguish pitch the same way we do. Ten years ago, researchers identified a region of\u00a0the marmoset\u00a0brain that is used to\u00a0process\u00a0pitch.\u00a0But they needed to confirm that the animals did indeed notice changes in pitch\u2014which presented a challenge: they had to find a way to get the animal to indicate that it had heard something. So they trained the marmosets to respond to a change in pitch with a behavior\u2014specifically, they would lick a\u00a0waterspout.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers then had the animals listen to a series of notes with the same pitch. And, at random, they\u2019d change it up. \u201cJust like, for example, when I say, \u2018ma ma ma MA.\u2019 Right, at some point I make the pitch a little higher,\u201d says Johns Hopkins neuroscientist Xiaoqin Wang, lead researcher of the study. \u201cThe actual difference in pitch,\u201d he says, \u201cwas much smaller than that. But you get the idea. And, when the animal hears that change, it will lick the waterspout to indicate they hear the difference.\u201d Which the miniscule monkeys indeed did.<\/p>\n<p>Because both we and marmosets have this talent, the ability likely evolved in a common ancestor long-ago\u2014this type of pitch perception may thus go back more than 40 million years ago, much earlier than previously thought.
