Scoring systems<\/strong> for the dizzying array of language tests can be confusing for the novice. Knowing the scoring system of an exam gives you an added bit of confidence<\/strong> and a confident test<\/strong> taker typically gets a higher score<\/strong>. Also, knowing what the scoring system is lets you develop a clear picture in your mind of where you need to be. Clear mental pictures lead to clear elucidation of goals and clear goals lead to good results.<\/p>\n

The TCF is based on the Common European of Reference<\/em> for languages (CEFR) levels.<\/p>\n

The points for the TCF correspond to the following CEFR levels<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

  • Elementary (A1)<\/strong> 100-199 points<\/li>\n
  • Lower Intermediate (A2)<\/strong> 200-299 points<\/li>\n
  • Intermediate (B1)<\/strong> 300-399 points<\/li>\n
  • Upper Intermediate (B2)<\/strong> 400-499 points<\/li>\n
  • Advanced (C1)<\/strong> 500-599 points<\/li>\n
  • Superior (C2)<\/strong> 600-699 points<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The final score<\/strong> that you receive is an average of the section scores<\/strong>. Results are valid for two years<\/strong>, and an expiration date is indicated on your scoring summary. There will be a detailed breakdown of each score.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
