They can be either proper nouns or common nouns.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Examples<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Proper nouns<\/em> are the names of specific individuals or entities. They can be separated into action verbs and linking verbs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Examples<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Action verbs <\/em>express an action that the subject of the sentence carries out.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I <em>laughed.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>We <em>made<\/em> cakes for the party.<\/li>\n<li>She <em>did <\/em>her homework.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Linking verbs <\/em>do NOT express an action; rather, these words are used to describe the subject. Sometimes <em>what, when, <\/em>and <em>where <\/em>can be used as relative pronouns as well. The relative pronoun can function as a possessive pronoun, object, or subject. <em>Whom <\/em>is rarely used, so it is best to use it in formal writing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The student <em>who <\/em>got expelled was accepted by another school.<\/li>\n<li>The dress <em>that <\/em>I bought five years ago doesn\u2019t fit me anymore.<\/li>\n<li>Pasta, <em>which <\/em>we eat a few times a week, is delicious.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conjunctions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Conjunctions are words used to join groups of words.
