The two tasks require you to do as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Write a letter explaining a specific situation or requesting information<\/li>\n<li>Write an essay responding to a point of view or problem<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>IELTS Academic Writing<\/h3>\n<p>The Academic version of the <strong>Writing section also has two tasks<\/strong> that require you to do the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Describe, summarize or explain data displayed in a graph, chart or diagram<\/li>\n<li>Write an essay responding to a point of view or problem<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>IELTS Academic vs General<\/h3>\n<p>The main similarity between the two versions of the Writing section is the format. <strong>Task 1 is shorter and less challenging<\/strong> in both versions of the Writing section, whereas <strong>Task 2 requires a longer response.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although Task 2 requires you to write an essay in both versions, there is a <strong>difference in style<\/strong>.
