The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi or Chinese Proficiency Test) is the official test for Mandarin (the principal language of China) for people who do not speak it as their native language. The HSK is administered by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. The HSK is composed of six levels of difficulty, from 1 to 6. Language skills and a certain number of characters are associated with each level.
