How does the LanguageCert scoring work?

You will get a different score for each section of the test: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. For each section, the maximum score is 50 points.

Written and Spoken Exams can be taken independently of each other at the candidates’ convenience. They are separate tests, so students can choose to focus their preparation on one exam before taking the other.

How does the LanguageCert scoring work?

What score do you need to get?

To pass the ESOL LanguageCert Exam, you will need to have a minimum score of 75 out of 150.

The Pass Mark for Written Exams must be at least 50% in all sections. This means you can get a low score in Reading but a high one in Writing, and still pass the test. All you need is to get 75 points in the end. The Pass Mark for Spoken Exams is 50% as well.

The SELT LanguageCert Test is a little different, as it is requested to get a minimum score of 33 points in each section of the test (25 for the C2 level in Listening) to be able to pass. For this type of test, you need to be proficient in all the different sections: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

How to Interpret your score?

The grades awarded will be High Pass, Pass and Fail. They will be awarded depending on your overall score.

High Pass101-150 out of 150
Pass75-100 out of 150
Fail0-74 out of 150
