¿En qué consiste el CAE Reading and Use of english part 6?
Antes de todo, no olvides que para aprobar un examen, lo que tienes que hacer son ejercicios, y nosotros te ponemos a disposición exámenes C1 Cambridge gratis para practicar.
En la parte 6, llamada Cross-text multiple matching o textos cruzados de respuesta múltiple, nos ofrecerán cuatro textos cortos y cuatro preguntas sobre los mismos con opción de respuesta múltiple. A cada uno de los enunciados de estas preguntas, deberemos responder con la letra de cada uno de los textos.

This six-part mini-series, produced and written by Russell T Davies, gives us a chilling dystopian look at the near-future in the UK. Based around the lives of the fictional Lyons family, it offers a wild ride, and a cautionary tale about our obsession with technology and political populism and offers a timely reminder that, however bad things seem, they can always get worse. Davies is a gifted writer, although with a strong tendency towards the hyperbolic, which can often make his story twists easy to see coming. However, the younger Lyons daughter Ruby’s obsession with getting herself upgraded should strike fear into every parent whose child is obsessed with the latest iPhone model.
B
This TV show, while offering an unsparing look at how our obsession with the ‘new’ can backfire, at times tries to be much too clever for its own good. The arch-villain of the show, Emma Thompson’s Vivian Rook, is not believable as the monster the show sets her up to be. This is not the fault of Thompson, so much as that of the writer. While the scene discussing concentration camps is chilling, much of the rest of it comes off as a little too banal to be all that scary. Davies does have some keen insights into the future, and particularly into relationships. The breakdowns of two of the protagonists’ marriages are exquisitely done, if a little trite. But the show itself has been overhyped.

Russell T Davies’ latest outing, a tale set in the city of Manchester based on an ordinary family beset and overtaken by events, feels all too believable. It is disconcerting to see, for example, the banks collapsing and families losing everything, as we’ve already lived through such an experience once before. And with right-wing extremism on the rise all over Europe, it is uncomfortable viewing to see those countries portrayed as having fallen to it entirely. The death of Daniel was a shock, but in a way, also entirely predictable; Davies is well-known for killing off his main characters. His taste for the shocking is, in the end, what makes him so predictable. But all the same, it’s definitely worth a look.
D
Anybody already apprehensive about the encroachment of the government into our day-to-day lives, and worried about what the future looks like when fragile political systems finally do collapse, should stay clear of this TV show. It has everything sure to frighten you; a monstrous villain, concentration camps, trumped-up terror scares and nuclear bombs. However, if you can drag yourself out from behind the sofa long enough to sit down and watch it, it is a most engaging series, indeed. Some of the tropes in the story feel a little overdone; not one but two marriages destroyed by infidelity can feel a bit much. And the ‘family stricken by financial crisis’ storyline has been done to death. But, a handful of clichés aside, it’s a truly insightful show. The scene where Ruby’s friend has a botched operation to get a mechanical eye, for instance, strikes at the heart of everything that worries us about our technological and medical future.

Tips para lograr pasar esta parte 6 del Reading CAE
Si has llegado hasta aquí es porque confías en que puedes realizar esta tarea satisfactoriamente. Si te sobrepones a los anteriores problemas y sigues los siguientes consejos, tendrás el éxito asegurado.
1. Planifica la tarea
Debes lograr organizar el tiempo de la tarea de manera que puedas dedicar el mismo a cada una de las pruebas. Para eso, deberás hacer lecturas rápidas y conocer la estructura de la actividad.
2. Lee las preguntas antes que los textos
En esta prueba es muy importante que leas los enunciados de las preguntas antes que los textos, ya que de esta forma sabrás que te están preguntando antes de leer los párrafos y adelantar el trabajo.
3. Lee los textos rápidamente, extrayendo las ideas principales y relacionándolas
En esta actividad no nos piden que conozcamos en detalle todos los datos de los párrafos, sino que seamos capaces de conocer la idea principal de cada uno de ellos para relacionarla con las preguntas.
4. Relaciona y justifica
Si has seguido el plan y has conseguido relacionar cada pregunta con cada uno de los textos, tendrás que saber también justificar por qué una pregunta y no otra. Aunque no te piden eso en el examen, es importante que hagas este ejercicio mentalmente para revisar las respuestas que has marcado.
