International English Language Testing System

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an internationally recognized English proficiency test that assesses the full range of English skills that are needed for success in a job or study placement in an English speaking environment.

The total time for the test is 2 hours and 45 minutes. You receive a ‘band score’ for each section of the test and an overall ‘band score.’ Bands range from 1-9. The overall band score is the average score of all the skills.

There are two versions of the test: IELTS Academic measures your level of English language proficiency to determine suitability in an academic environment such as a university. IELTS General Training measures English language proficiency for everyday situations.
