WiDaF® :

key information to remember

The WiDaF, or Deutsch als Fremdsprache in der Wirtschaft, exam is a test to certify your language ability in business German. It was developed by the German-French Chamber of Commerce in 1996 and is just by companies in recruitment and training.
The exam is made up of 150 multiple choice questions. It lasts for 3 hours and is in 2 parts.

Part 1 lasts for 105 minutes and vocabulary, grammar, and reading. Topics that are covered in this part include administration, finance, insurance, trade, reports, protocols, tenses, passive, pronouns, letters, product descriptions etc. A full list can be found on the official website.

Part 2 lasts for 45 minutes and focuses on listening for basic information, dialogues, job interviews, telephone conversations etc. The questions in the exam vary in level of difficulty.
It isn’t a pass or fail test. Each skill is given a score between 0-330 points. You also receive an overall score out of 990. The results are usually emailed around 4 weeks after you have taken the exam. The WiDaF exam is also benchmarked against the CEFR:
