Which TOEIC test should I take?

The TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) is the most recognized English language test for professionals. The TOEIC Listening & Reading test is by far the most common version of the TOEIC to certify your level of English, but the TOEIC Speaking & Writing is required by a few organizations. Be sure to verify with your organization or employer which version you should take. The score you earn on the TOEIC and resulting certification will be valid for 2 years.

How do I register for a TOEIC test?

Nothing could be easier! Registering for the TOEIC test is a simple procedure and can be done anywhere online. Please note that signing up in person at the testing site is not possible. To register, you’ll need to go to the official ETS Global website. There, you can simply fill in the online form and pay the fee with your credit card. You’ll also need to upload a recent photo for identification purposes. Detailed instructions for registration and FAQs can be found directly on the ETS Global website. Currently, the fee for the TOEIC Listening & Reading test is $85, but be sure to check the ETS Global website for updated information about the fee and other news.

Alternatively, US residents can register for the TOEIC by mail. You will still need to complete the form online, print it out and sign it, and send it with a check or money order to:

Your seat is not guaranteed until the fee is paid, so allow for plenty of time for your registration by mail to arrive and be processed!

When are the testing dates and where are the TOEIC testing centers?

ETS Global offers public testing at 42 authorized centers in 19 states across the USA and the District of Columbia. Testing dates are typically on Saturday and occur once a month, so you have 12 dates to choose from per year. The centers are usually located at language schools or colleges and universities in these cities:

Be sure to select a specific date and location to reserve your seat, but remember that your reservation will not be finalized until you submit the fee. Seats can fill up fast, so register as early as possible! The registration deadline for public testing sessions in the United States is always on the Thursday one week prior to the test at 5 p.m. ET. For example, if you want to take the test on Saturday, November 13, you must register by 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 4.

On the day of the test, allow plenty of time to arrive at the testing center. Be sure to have directions to the testing center address. Since you may have to travel considerably to get to your nearest testing location, you may want to organize lodging for at least the night before. After your registration is complete, the testing center itself may provide you with lodging recommendations as well as detailed instructions on how to get to the center.
